Has anyone ever herd of a mustang with pattle shifting? i have an 05 mustang gt and kinda wondered if it would be at all possible to put a pattle shifting transmission on it.

im sure there is a way but i think you would need and automatic trans so you can get a different solenoid for the trans and wire it up to the steering wheel.

Default nah

The auto tranny with a solenoid might work, but i doubt it. that would be a lot of strain on it. i would say that a conversion like that would cost you a pretty penny. not only would you have to somehow get paddles on the steering wheel, you would need a tranny that is set up for it....as far as i know. only expensive cars come with that kinda thing. again, i have NO first hand knowledge on this, just a car guy taking a stab at what it would take. =) sorry if i am completely wrong.

Pretty much anything is possible...
However it would cost you A LOT of money to have this conversion done.
A lot of newer cars are adding Paddle Shifting. ie: New Lancer's [including non-evo's] have paddle shifters, and a few other cars.

Like they said I think you would need a tranny for it and probably some weird steering wheel conversion stuff... Either way it will cost Thousands of dollars.

Its kind of funny you mentioned it because I was thinking yesterday when I was driving around that it would be awesome to have Paddle shifting in the Mustang. But its all personal preference. I know a lot of people here would say paddle shifting is dumb.

paddle shifting is dumb...lol jk but im not a big fan i prefer the traditional stick shift because if you hit the downshift paddle too many times by accident you could blow your tranny

This might be what you're talking about, but I'd have to see it installed on a stang first before I believed it worked.

what would be the point? it's not like it would make the car faster or the trans shift quicker.
