Default Winter coming- Need oil change!!

The vehicle: 2007 Mustang 4.0L V6
Ok I know there are plenty of other threads out there about this but I would like to know exactly what oil is best to use in my engine. Are there any oils that affect MPG?? What should I go buy?? The Winters coming and I want to have my Stang start fresh for the winter (I must drive it in the winter! )

Also what oil filter should I get?

Ford recommends 5W-30 Synthetic Blend to full synthetic. Of course it is up to you which oil you choose for yours, but I keep Q Horsepower in mine, another popular choice is Royal Purple.

So I should run full synthetic in my car? I wasn't sure if I could/should or not.

Which is better? Blend of it or full?

Any oils out there that are better than the others? Any that can help mpg?

You have a nice new car, don't skimp...Use full synthetic, yes it costs more, but you can go longer between oil changes and it will make your motor run better and last longer. I run Valvoline full synthetic in my car and I can go around 8k miles between changes, and it doesn't burn any. I have 95k miles on mine and it runs great.

Yes, go with full synthetic, when you look at the mileage you get out of it, it just about pays for itself and your motor will thank you. Most people that go with full-syn will go between 5k-10k miles before changing their oil. I say no more than 8k, just to play it safe. I don't know about MPG performance, you would just have to check out some diff brands. The big ones are Quaker State, Castrol, Royal Purple, Valvoline, and Pennzoil. Also, buy a quality filter, not Valucraft or w/e the house brand is, go with Fram or STP.

I am running the full Syn and I still change every 3000 miles! Will never hurt it!

Yeah I bought the 5k for my last oil change, but I'm changing it at 3k anyway.

...I've gotta hurry up and get on it with this oil change.

Also is there a rule about how often to change the oil for Synthetics if I dont use the 3-5k up?? (In months... ex: they say for conventional oil 3,000miles/3 months.)

use what ford recomends, so 530 syn blend with a motorcraft filter at the recomended intervals, unless you have a fully built motor with boost there is no need for a full synthetic.

fram fiilters are crap

and the only true full synthetics are amsoil, RP, and redline

With synthetic you can extend your change intervals.

I also recommend synthetic. It is a better oil. Why is it a dilemna? Cost. It's huge and over the life of the vehicle is adds up significantly.

Walk around the junkyard. I'll bet 90% of the cars in there are NOT there because the owners used regular oil.
