Default Vacuum Tested Today, Late timing

I ran a vacuum test on my 1988 mustang Lx with a 2.3L and at idle the vacuum is normal, once in gear the guage reads late ignition timing.....where would i go from there advance the timing? how would i go about that turn the distributor?

what are you actually trying to do,what do you mean the gauge reads late timing, are you using a timing light or a vacuum gauge?
