Default Parts protection

Hi,

I just bought a completely tore down 67 mustang and I'm working on building a 347 stroker for it. (The car came with a 289 and the stroker kit I got for a steal. So I know a 351W would be better.) But, I deploy next month and won't be around for a little while and the motor is tore down. I want to protect the parts from surface rust while I'm gone. I was thinking of WD-40, but, wanted expert opinion first. Because I'd hate to screw the pooch before I even get started.

Thanks for the help!

WD40 do in a pinch but something a little heavier would be better, even rub every thing down in clean engine oil and then bag it all would be fine.

Thanks for the advice. I'll probably go with the clean engine oil.

Vasaline, grease or plain oil. Bag it in ZipLocks. All sizes available or even garbage bags.
