Default Problem with heater....

I've posted this before and never got an answer.

When my heating system is off, the car blows out hot air into the cabin. It doesn't blow like the fan is on, you can just tell that heat is radiating from the vents. In summer time, the car gets so hot that you sweat when sitting in the seats.

At night time over the last week, it's been "colder" (sorry, I live in CA, we don't really do cold). Anyways, it's so cold outside and the heat just radiates from the turned off heat system.

I have a 2001 GT, my last thought was that the vent by the windshield wipers was broken and hot air from the engine bay was coming in. Is this even possible?

Incase it matters, when I turn the dial and turn the A/C on, it gets freezing (and I loose almost all power so I don't like to use the A/C)

Well, first, is your temp dial for your a/c on heat. It is common to turn the **** all the way to hot to help keep some excess engine heat out of the bay by blowing into the car. I do it with my cars in the summer when cruising with the windows down. Now, if the **** is on cool then I don't know, maybe something in the heater box, but otherwise, i don't know.
