Default Having problems with windshield wipers

I have a 1997 ford mustang. My windshield wipers will not turn on and if they do they will not turn off... i know its an electrical problem, but i do not have a repair manual or the original manual that came with the car... If you know what website i can get a diagram or anything i would really appreciate it... or if you think you could help me that would be great.. thank you

I would say, and this is just a guess, but that the problem is with the wiper switch on your steering column. It is not uncommon for these to have problems. It is either that or the module itself, but since you are saying that it either doesn't come on or won't turn off, I would have to think the commands are not getting to the module. If the timing was off, like sporadic wiping, I would say wiring or module or even the motor, but I my gut says it is the switch. Here are two diagrams. Yell if ya need anymore help.

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Place a 3.17 mm (1/8-inch) diameter wire pin or small drift punch in hole in steering column shroud under ignition switch lock cylinder. Depress retaining pin while pulling out on ignition switch lock cylinder to remove it from steering column tube housing.
3. Remove four screws retaining steering column shrouds and remove steering column shrouds.
4. Disconnect electrical connectors from multi-function switch.
5. Remove two screws retaining multi-function switch to steering column and remove multi-function switch.

INSTALLATION

1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten two multifunction switch screws to 2.1-2.9 N.m (19-25 Lb-In) . Tighten four steering column shroud retaining screws to 0.6-1.0 N.m (6-8 Lb-In) .
