Default Electrical Wizards / schematic diagnostics gurus

Ok, this is a great puzzle for those that are handy at reading/comparing schematics.

Background: I have a Saleen Extreme 06 and a 2004 Expedition. I am converting the expedition to a saleen expedition (never made) and one of the items I am upgrading is the instrument cluster.

I have the schematics of a 2004 and a 2006 Expedition instrument cluster. I have new harnesses and connectors and an extra set of new factory guages. Of course these clusters are not plug and play, but I am hoping that enough of the modules and wiring 'could be' interchangable.

A lot of people have asked for this conversion, but I think this may be the first time the nessecary info has been attached to complete this task.

Hopefully there is someone who can help with this. Shall I suggest a Paypal gift card as a reward?

PM me for the schematics

Thanks

I could sit and stare at the diagrams for a few hours and make a pinout, but theres one critical difference between these two cars.

The 2006 runs a Controller Area Network (CAN). The 2004 uses a Standard Corporate Protocol (SCP) network. The inputs from the pcm to the ic are going to be different between CAN and SCP. So much critical info comes from the pcm that it might make the swap impossible to function properly. It may work, but I doubt it.

As far as other differences, on the 2004 the brake fluid level sensor signal is run through the abs module, whereas on the 2006 its hardwired to the IC. Also on that note, depending on how in depth of a conversion youre planning on doing, electronic brake distribution on the 2006 is run through the abs module-the 2004 doesnt even have it. In order to retain that, you would have to pretty much swap the whole 2006 abs system. I would have no desire to attempt that.

With the 2004 the seat belt warning light is turned on by the RCM removing ground; the 2006 provides ground to turn on the light. Another (minor) example of the differing networks.

Also, the message center on the 2006 incorporates the tire pressure monitor system, low fuel light, and some other stuff which are just warning lights on the 2004. This is a CAN exclusive. The message center on SCP is much different. I can also see issues with the Vehicle Security Module going nuts with the different networks and causing all sorts of fun problems.

Dude honestly as twisted as it sounds, you would be better off swapping the ENTIRE VEHICLE HARNESS with all modules (theres a bunch of em) from the 06 to the 04. Or you could get a 2005 expedition. It has the CAN and would be soooooo much easier!
