Clutch help? 2003 Mach 1 w/cobra 6spd
Hey guys, I went out driving the Mach today and I started to hear somthing. At first I thought it was an exhaust heat shield because it sounds like ratteling thin metal against metal. Drove it home, everything was fine. I did a seach and came up with this guy saying this and it sounds VERY similar.
"I've got a buzzing sound coming from my clutch pedal ONLY at 1700-2200 rpm range. This sound only occurs when my foot is completely off the clutch pedal and I'm in that rpm range. It goes away as I accelerate up past 2200 rpm, but here's the weird thing: the sound also disappears if I rest my foot on the clutch pedal (just the weight of my foot, not pushing it in). I'd guess the clutch pedal depresses about 1/2 inch with the weight of my foot on it. But anyhow, the sound goes away when I rest my foot on the pedal. If I'm still in that rpm range and I lift my foot back off, the sound immediately comes back. It's not very loud (the stereo will block it out if I have it on at a decent level) and there's no shaking in the pedal.
Someone already told me that this is probably the throw out bearing going bad. Does that sound right? Any other ideas what it might be?"
I havent tried the "weight of foot on pedal" thing, but the sound is only between those certain RPMs and it goes away past that. It has a RAM king cobra clutch that was installed just 5k miles ago and have never had a problem with it.
Its fairly audible with the door open, but with it closed its BARELY noticable if at all, and thats with no radio or anything.

Check your stock quadrant under your dash it might be flexing a little to much. The stock quadrant dont like stiff clutches to much. I would start under the dash first before you have to rip the trans out.
Well i got a little more info on it today.....went out and started it, literally if I put just my foots weight on it it wont do it......its weird, what could be making this happen with just a little difference as a centimeter clutch push in it wont do it
Possibly a bent clutch fork. There might not be enough tention on it and its causing a bit of a misalighnment. Did Mach's come stock with the T56 or the 3650's? Your clutch cable if its stock could be stretched as well. For a 100 bucks you can get the cable quadrant and firewall adjuster. For aftermarket clutchs I'd have to say there a must have.
