Default Fuel Cell - Never had one ...

I just purchased a 1980 Mustang in which the fuel tank was replaced with a fuel cell in the hatch area. Is there any type of gauge I can get that will work with a fuel cell?

Possibly something like this?

This is a 12 or 13 gallon cell with foam. None of my gauges currently work, so I'd have to find either a sending unit with a gauge, or a sending unit and purchase a separate gauge that would be compatible.

check places like summit and jegs, they sell the senders etc for fuel cells. You may need a different cell that is set up for a sender.

Then you can use whatever gauge you want.

If I got the info on the fuel cell (brand, model #, ect), would I be able to figure out whether it WILL take a sending unit?

Should be able to, or find one of similar dimensions.

does the cell have a built in sending unit? if it does then 90 percent of the time they run a 0-90ohm unit which gauges are a dime a dozen i personally used an autometer phantom fuel gauge which was 40 bucks on my rci 15 gallon cell and it works dead on.

Just an update on this. It's getting closer and closer to Spring and I still got a lot to do. I found the original receipt for the fuel cell, so I now have a part # to work off of. Can anyone tell me if a fuel sending unit is avail. for it?

12- Gallon Capacity
17-1/2" L x 16" W x 10" H
Part # 547-250-012-01

Would this sending unit work?
