Default hinges

my gf has a 1994 cougar and when you open the door it drop downs like an inch or two... shutting it caused the door latch to break so the door wouldnt shut at all...well we fixed the latch assembly and got the door closed, but i have no idea how to fix the hinges... someone enlighten me? is it pretty universal? i found a writeup on replacing the bushings for a new body cougar...if so, would it work the same for my stang? mine sags a bit too, and ide rather do it now before i need to do the latch

also, will just putting bushings in the door fix it? or would i need to get new pins?

as a typical repair i usually replace both bushings and pins together, make sure you have something to support the weight of the door before you remove the pins. the repair it self is simple, start with the lower hinge remove the "hold open spring" if there is one using prybar/screwdriver. drive pin out with punch, clamp vise grips under the head of the pin and hammer upward onto the pliers if needed, the other comes out the same way but the pin is drove in from the opposite side so its pounded downward.

Note how the head end of the pin shaft has a larger diameter, plus the knurling to hold the head in the bushing. The bushings have two different inside diameters. The larger I.D. bushing needs to be placed where the head of the pin will go.

also when installing one hinge has bushings on the door side of the hinge the other hinge will have bushings on the car side
