Default Need some transmission and clutch advise.

Hello everyone. I've got an annoying squeak that I'm trying to get rid of. I believe it's my throw out bearing. Anywho, I think it's about time that I get a new clutch anyways. Couldn't hurt. Perhaps a lighter flywheel?

Anyways, does anyone have any recommendations on a clutch for my 2001 Bullitt?
Also, for anyone who's removed the tranny... any advise? This will be my first, I'll have a friend to guide me (I'm learning, so tips really help. Got any links?)

Another thing, how long would you think this will take?
Can anyone give me a ballpark on labor costs if idecide to have someone else do it?

About 500 to have it done,to do it yourself your looking at about 8 hours on your back if you have a lift it will take 4 if your good.I would look into the king cobra clutch but there is a million out there. How many miles on your car? What makes you think its the throw out bearing making noise?

I wouldn't recommend getting a lighter flywheel with a stock motor. The gains in response are not as great as the detriment to the smoothness of the ride in traffic. In other words driving from streetlight to streetlight could be a pain because the car will be more likely to buck or bog. Unless you're a pro all the time when shifting. By pro I mean you watch your tach everytime and shift at the 'sweet spot'

Lighter driveshaft would be better.

From another one of my topics:

Hello all. I've got a 2001 Bullitt. I've got myself a squeak problem. The noise seems to be coming from the transmission area. Definitly an exterior sound. It seems to be in synch with the engine. (I.E. when it idles up, so does the squeak. Vice versa) It squeaks in nuertral, and all the gears. Keeping with the RPMs. The noise will stop if I press the clutch in just a bit. (1/8" or so.) I tightened up my clutch a little (I've got an adjustable clutch quadrant and cable) The noise stopped at idle, but It will start again once I get up past 2,000 RPMs. (I tightened it a bit more, and it would start at higher RPMS, instead of 2,000) I adjusted it back to the original position for fear of having the clutch slip. I can live with the squeak. It's hard to notice inside with the radio on. Pretty easy to hear outside.

My thoughts are the throwout bearing, am I close? Keep in mind, I'm new to the mechanic scene. So you might have to explain things to me.
The miles are at a little over 47,000 now.

yes, I would say that it is your throwout bearing. I don't know what would be the best clutch kit but I got a FRPP clutch kit installed when they had my trans out last time.

I'll ask around about clutches.

Anyone got any tips or things to watch out for while removing the transmission? I sure as hell don't want to break anything.
