Transmission Flush
So I just had my oil changed in my car today and the guy doing it said the transmission fluid was dirty and needed to be flushed and changed. I have heard bad things about having your transmission flushed so I was wondering what you guys thought. Thanks in advance.
There has always been the arguement that a neglected transmission is doomed when flushed because all the years of build up is suddenly loose and can clog up or stop a spool valve from moving.
So the answer is preventative maintenance on a steady interval.
Also flushing is just an exchange of fluid through a cooler line. This does not clean up all the build up in the pan. Which is probably where most of the junk is. Flushing also does not include replacing the filter.
Warm the fluid, drop the pan, replace filter, clean pan, reseal, refill. This is the best method.
