Keyless Entry Programming
The tab on my keyless entry bob broke and I ordered a new one off eBay. Less that $25. Looks nice, but after reading all the information that came with it AND my owners manual, I can not get the car to go into programming mode.
According to all the information I have for a 2002 V6 Convertible, you should:
Turn the ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds and on the 8th time ending in the RUN position. All the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the car is in programming mode. Within 20 seconds press any button on the old transmitter. Doors will lock and unlock again. Then press the second transmitter and the door lock will cycle again. Turn off the ignition, and the door locks will cycle one last time.
However, I can not get the car to go into the programming mode after the 8th time back and forth between OFF and RUN. I have tried with the doors open and closed.
I know that the ignition positions are ACC, OFF, ON, RUN, and START. So, I have tried the eight times between OFF and RUN. I have tried eight times between ON and RUN. I have tried eight times between ACC and RUN.
No luck.
Any suggestions?

Looks like you're doing it right. Here's the procedure from a tech source
All keyless entry remote transmitters must be programmed at the same time.
All previous Transmitter Identification Codes (TIC's) will be erased when programming mode is entered.
To program (or reprogram) the keyless entry remote transmitters into the Generic Electronic Module (GEM) , perform the following steps.
Turn the ignition from OFF to RUN eight times within 10 seconds , ending in RUN. If the GEM has successfully entered program mode, it will lock and unlock all the doors.
Press any button on a keyless entry remote transmitter, and the doors will lock and then unlock to confirm that each keyless entry remote transmitter has been programmed. NOTE: The first TIC must be entered within 7.5 seconds of entering the program mode and additional TICs must be entered within 7.5 seconds of the first TIC. The programming mode is exited whenever the timing constraints are not met.
If the door locks do not respond for any keyless entry remote transmitter, wait for several seconds and press the button again.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, or wait up to five minutes after step 1, to exit program mode. If a keyless entry remote transmitter has been programmed (or reprogrammed), the GEM will lock and unlock all the doors one last time.

How quickly are you doing it w/in the time limit? I just did mine about two weeks ago. Bought them off ebay like you did. I didn't do it quick enough the first time, the second time, i turned the 8 within like 5 seconds and it worked like a charm. I had the doors closed. Just make sure you are counting. Also, the count starts and ends on RUN. So, it is OFF...RUN...1...OFF...RUN...2. It should work, no offense but it has to be something you are doing.
