Default Car running rough please help

ok here is my problem. my 2002 v6 is not running smoothe like it used to. I know its getting old and has 85 xxx miles. also if i stop like at a light the rpms drop and raise between 500 and 1000 sporadically. also when i accelerate it feels like its only pulling 50% of the time then stopping and pulling again. idk whats up but any suggestions would be much appreciated. thanks

When is the last time it was tuned up? If you are not comfortable diagnosing it maybe it's time to go to a shop.

okay. well your car shouldnt need to be tuned up untill around 100,000 miles. but ford coil packs do go out alot. that could be your problem when exelerating. i would have that checked out first.

ok thanks for the suggestions. I have cleaned both the MAF and the IAC. I have been to the shop and tell them the problem and they always find something but it never fixes the problem so Im thinkin im just getting some bs from the shop. I guess ill check into the coilpack

sounds like something is causing drag in a way.

if it has something to do with the firing, you should be able to just tell by feeling the exhaust at idle, it should feel even and constant, if it feels like there is a sudden break or uneveness just pull out the coils and see if they are sparking, technically you arent supposed to do that but if you want to diagnose on the spot you can try that..

And try listening to the fuel injectors by using a screw driver, make sure you hear ticking noises and all of the injectors should be relatively the same noise level, if not then that could be the problem
