Default car wont start?

hey guys my buddy has a 2000 gt and his car wont start. just keeps turning over but will never fire and his anti-theft light continues to blink repeatedly. the dealership keeps saythin that they need to re-flash his chip in his key and want to charge a arm and leg for it. now last year i was workin at a detail shop and this happen on a F-150 we had in. i called the 800 number in the back of the owners manual and they talked me through a sequence of putting the key in the ignition, turning it to the on position then hitting the lock and unlock on the keyless entry pad. does anyone know how to do this? tried callin them back but now they have no idea what i'm talkin about. anyway sorry for the long rant but any help would be greatly appriciated, thanks

The sequence your talking about is programming a key FOB(for unlock/lock/trunk) purposes. Programming the actual key to cooperate with the PATS system is a whole different story; which I'm fairly sure can only be done at a dealership or shop.

Car turns over, fires, but won't start. Doe's it have fuel pressure?

With the light blinking fast, it's in the key or the PATS sensor on the ignition switch. Sorry man, but it's a trip to the dealership for ya. Does he have another key?

One more question: Is the car chipped by (insert speed chip company here)? When I was testing Diablo chips in early 2001 for the Focus, the chip would make the PATS system go crazy if the chip had wiggled the least bit loose.

The "THEFT" light on New Edges will blink fast regardless. The only time it doesn't blink is when the car is actually running.

And you've tried de-tuning the car from the Chip?
And how did you check for fuel pressure?(Fuel pumps on these cars are pretty sensitive)

i'm not sure if he has tried that or not, if not we'll give it a try. and the car has a aftermarket fuel pump on it. forget the exact model but he insisted it had pressure i wasnt with him when he checked so just going off his word.

Checking the fuel pump/relays/inertia switch is something to look at.
An easy way to do this is just switch the Key to "ON", and listen for the "Vrrrrrrrrrr" the fuel pump makes when it's engaging. You could have someone stand near the fuel door to make it easier.

The inertia switch will activate if he's bumped into anything, mines activated after a bad pothole. It's located in the trunk, left side, near the tail light, behind the carpeting theres a small black box with a red button on top. If the button is "UP" press it "DOWN." This stops any chance of a fire in case theres an accident.
