Window tint

RE: Window tint
depending on the interior color, the tint percentage makes a world of difference. Go darker (20%) for a lighter interior and go lighter (35%) for a darker interior. I have 20% on my windows with a parchment/tan interior and it is plenty dark. 5% is limo tint. You might not want to go that dark unless you plan on using night vision to back out of dark driveways at nighttime.

RE: Window tint
thanks! I have black leather seats so I might not go too dark.
Thanks for the info,
So I might go 35% on the side windows and 20% on the back and quarter windows?? Does this sound good or should I go darker in the back?
Thanks again

RE: Window tint
That sounds like a good combination. You could go as low as 20% on all the windows and I think you'll like it. I wouldn't go lower than 20% though.
Not sure what the legal state tint limit is where you are, but in Maryland it is 35%. Most police don't harrass you for tint anymore considering that most SUVs come with limo tint nowadays as a standard factory feature. Just use your best judgment.

RE: Window tint
I have 35% on the front side window and 20% on all the rear windows. Makes a big difference in keeping the car cool especially while parked. My car is black on black so it gets plenty hot in the summer. I don't want to be a party pooper but check your local laws. I'm in RI and they are cracking down on window tinting. In this state any aftermarket tint is illegal. The law requires at least 70% light transmission and there are no companies that offer such a light tint and it would be worthless anyway. They've even set up mobile inpection stations with the sole purpose of nailing cars with tint.

RE: Window tint
20% on the rear windows, people will still be able to see "in" from outside the car. Going to 5% on the rear glass and it's pretty much impossible to see in from outside.
This may or may not matter to you, but if you want to keep stuff in the car hidden from view (like sound systems and/or personal stuff) then 20% won't be dark enuf
5% is pretty dark but IMO still not bad for night driving. I think certain tint films claim to be more "1 way" than others too.

RE: Window tint
Thank you very much, I have looked at the laws, and there isn't a specific law regarding tint, its just up to officer, if he thinks its too dark or not.
Thanks to everyone for the info, I'm going to go with 20% on the rear/quarters and 35% on the sides.
