i wouldnt mess with the valves just yet, i would get a tune up some new spark plugs and wires and see what that does for you. if you want good spark plugs go on americanmuscle.com and they have zex spark plugs i have them in my car and there awsome.

 

yeah i think it may be time to get some plugs and wires anyway. but the valve seals maybe gettin wore and thats a lot cheaper than the valves. i'm keepin an eye on the oil level for a while and then goin to look into the seals in a month or so. thanks for the input

 

I don't recall the 2002 mustang using spark plug wires. Try flushing the system with sea foam. Use it in your oil, gas tank and run 1/3 of it into your intake through a vacuum line on the plenum. Maybe new plugs too if their olddddddd.

 

The car doesn't have plug wires. They have individual coils packs that sit on top the plugs. How much oil do you burn in a week?

 

Valve seals were definately a problem in the early non PI 4.6L Thunderbirds. I had one and also noticed 4.6L Crown Vics smoking just like my 95 Tbird.

 

my 96 gt was burning oil id burn about 3 quarts or so before my next oil change.

i changed my oil to pennzoil platinum and ran a bottle of lucas oil stabilizer and after that i lost another quart and i added another bottle of lucas and my low oil light hasnt come on since.

i suggest changing your oil and running a quart or two of lucas oil stabilizer.

 

My 96 Burned oil while it was cold (If driven hard) and also, I'd notice if I would sit and idle extendedly then reverse quickly, the oil would quickly burn off.
I completed the PI swap, turns out it was the Valve guides. Quite worn.

 

hey everyone thanks! it isnt burning a lot but it was 2 quarts low after the half way point(in between oil changes) i think the plugs are the original ones. so i might look into somthin that works better with nitrous but thats goin to be later on in the year or next spring. i am new to the sight and love the feeback i've gotten and appreciate all the feedback.

 

Yeah that is smart. Run nitrous while your car is burning oil.
