Default 1996 4.6L battery cable replacement help

I have a '96 with pretty severe corrosion on the battery cables. I have cleaned them but the corrosion was so bad that the individual strands of copper in the cable have gotten thin and now heat up and are burning through. Obviously I need to replace the cables. However, when I looked at the set up in there, I noticed it appears to be a complete harness with multiple connection points to the engine. Does all of this need to be replaced or do I need to cut open the harness and splice in new cables to the battery. just thought I'd ask before I take an exacto to the whole mess. Any information would be helpful.

Thanks
