Shaker 1000 subwoofer powered, with car switch off, draining battery. HELP!
My 2006 Mustang Shaker 1000 sub emits thumps when the car is switched off, runs down the battery. Any ideas on where to start? I'm new here!! I have disconnected the sub woofer now so as not to drain the battery.
Thanks

Welcome......Sounds like it could be a wiring problem or an amp problem. With it being factory wiring and everything it is going to be kinda hard to nip the problem without some sort of wiring diagram....Which someone on here may have.
Have you checked all the connections on the amp, making sure everything is plugged up? It kinda sounds like it could be a ground problem or a signal problem. Does it thump when you open the trunk or does it stop?
Next time or maybe a Mod can move this....You may want to put this in the audio section.

Didnt know there was an audio section...sorry. Opening or closing the trunk has no effect. I'm thinking it does it all the time, but is definitely doing it when the car is OFF and even when the key is removed. Also when shaker is turned OFF (via the head unit) it still does it. Sporadically, not like a regular "beat"...kinda random, but enough to kill the battery. Theres definitely current making its way to the sub/amps with the car turned off...
This is my daughter's car, and it has been doing this for just a few days. I was out of town and got a call that the battery was dead, then I got the details of the recent history. We've had the car for about 6 months with no problems with the sub.
One note....a week or so ago, I pulled the console and head unit out to check connections for the ipod adapter (wasnt working).... checked all the connections behind the dash for the adapter, and reinstalled everything. Ipod works fine now. I cant say the sub problem started as a result of my pulling the dash and radio....?
ALSO....I dont see any evidence of anyone modifying the factory wiring, aside from installing the ipod adapter.
Thanks!
