what could the problem be ??
We purchased a 1994 Mustang GT Convertible with auto transmission and 52.350 original miles. The transmission fluid looks, smells good and is clean.
The last owner only put 200 mi. on it last year, then put it in storage.
The problem we have is after driving about 15 mi.{country or hi-way}
the car hesitates and the tachometer surges. Some times we can drive 30-40 or more mi. before it acts up.
The car acts like there is an interruption of gas flow for a split second. If
you let up on the gas this helps, but the problem will sometimes reoccur in
another 2 to 5 mi.
We changed the fuel filter, it was about 40 % blocked. Still no improvement.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Thank you.

When you say the car hesitates and then the tach surges, is it like the car is bogging down? Like it starts to hesitate, but if you push the pedal, the tach just climbs with no increase in power or speed? Or does the tach climb by itself even though you have lifted off the pedal? Also, any check engine lights on?
