check engine
well after leaving a mall i stomped on it and took off, i got about 200 YDS and the check engine light poped on.
so i got where i was going and read the manual. it said that it comes on when it an emission problem is detected. or if gas cap is not seated right. so i unscrewed the gas cap and put it back on tight. so it said after you do that, that after three full warm up starts that the light will turn off if it is the gas cap. but if it doesnt what else could be the problem?
i have an opiontment on tuesday any how to get it looked at. for wierd idle and wanting to die when it hits 3 grand when it is cold, could that be why the light is on?
what could all the possiblitys be?
any guesses?
thanks

RE: check engine
I would take it to your local Advance Auto or Autozone and see if they will put there code scanner on your car. I know the ones in my area do it for free. most sensors are pretty easy to replace. But that my opinion I like to do everything my self its alot cheaper.

but today after it warmed up for the 4th time the light went out, so i guess it was the gas cap after all.
i still have the opiontment tuesday to get it looked over, as per the idle problem.
thanks for all your ppl's help, ill post what is wrongf with it after i go to the shop.

RE: check engine
well i took her to the shop today.
as soon as he poped the hood he said "well it looks like your throttle Position sensor is broke".
and sure enough it was, had i nice big crack in it[&:]. and he also put the Diagnostic scanner on it to check to see why the check engine light came on and it WAS the gas cap.
so i went and bought the sensor $70 and put it on. so far it runs good. havnt drove it from cold yet, but i will tomorrow.
thanks for you help
