Default Service Engine Light (emmission issues)

I have a 1999 Mustang Cobra (I know I know) that has its "service engine light" on. I checked the code and it says that it is has a large emmissions leak. Is this an expensive fix.....I wouldnt care but to renew the registration it has to be in compliance and inspected. Anything I can do? The car also has an aftermarket exhaust on it. Is this affecting it?

thanks
dave

The aftermarket exhaust is most likely effecting it.

Doe's your new exhaust have MIL eliminators on it? If not, you'll need to pick up a pair in order to properly get rid of that code. A handheld tuner can clear the code, but it may comeback, especially if it's being examined for emissions standards.
