I bought this fuel filter tool the other day, proceeded to do everything i need up until the point where i use the tool to take off the filter. I have no clue how this tool is supposed to help take off the fuel filter, it doesnt fit anywhere in any way that seems correct. Can someone please help. Its a 2001 v6 mustang.

 

That tool looks like it might be the one used to diconnect the Fuel and AC lines that are under your hood. You should be able to take the hair pin clip out with no tools. The clip should be white and have a triangle head on it with two legs on it. You just spread the legs apart and pull up on the triangle part. You can use a flat head screw driver but be careful. If you break the clip you can get them at the autoparts store for a couple of bucks.

 

Ya i agree with Bramas02 thats the tool to disconnect the fuel and ac lines

 

it took me a while to figure out on my 99 gt but you basically have to put those roundish plugs around the metal fuel line and then push it into the fuel filter. Itll internally release the metal line from the filter. I got a whole set of plastic ones at auto barn. Btw, i remember one side was a bigger tool diameter than the other so watch out.

 

why they just couldn't use a better clamp or a quick disconnect on them[:@]
