Default tire question

so i have a foxbody with a 302 that has been worked on quite a bit. It has been switched to carb, has been rebuilt, has has edlebrock heads, custom exhaust with shorty headers and a h pipe, and 410 gears in the rear. Now my question is with the current 245s it breaks loose far to easy. Is it possible to wrap 275's on a rim that measures 17x 9? What is the fattest tire i can put on these? I know a 9.5 can easily hold 275's. Thanks for all your help

i have 275/40/17 on my 17x9 wheels. the only thing you might have issues with is rubbing though. but yes, they will go on the wheel.

Remember, it's not just hot wide a tire you can fit for traction, but also what the tire compound is. A 245 BFG KDW will hook up better than a 275 Kumho ASX.

for the most traction i would go with some type drag radial such as a nitto NT555R or something similar (if the 275s don't work)

The Mickey ET streets are pretty good too.
