Default Need help - 96 GT problem

We have a 1996 GT (4.6) we just purchased. After replacing the mass air sensor, which we were told was causing the car to studder when giving it gas, we still had the same issue just not as bad. A friend told us the catalytic converters were clogged from it running rich for so long so i took it to a local shop and had the rear 2 on each side removed and a straight pipe welded in thier place. (The car has (had) six total converters.

Well it runs a lot better now but when it gets up to operating temp it still starts to studder when giving it gas. It runs great if you are easy on the gas but if you push the pedal too fast it bogs out.

Does this sound like the other 2 converters need replaced or is it another issue all together?

The engine throws no codes at all when hooked to a computer.

Also, I was told if we remove all the converters (Our county does not require emissions)the car will not run at all? Is this true?

Thank you

The car will still run if you take off the cats.
But by doing so it will give you a code so you would need to get a tuner and get rid of it.

Well it is possible that may help your problem, since i had a friend who had a vehicle that was running in a similar condition as yours. He replaced all the cats and it ran smoother than before but not completely fixed, but that was due to other reason also.

Just because its not giving you codes doesn't mean there arent other problems though. Maybe you should try to set off a code and make sure its working properly...but you can just check the usual, make sure all cylinders are firing, all fuel injectors are working, distributor, plugs etc. Not sure on this one but maybe the EGR valve
