Jacking car

Jacking car
I'm going to be spray painting my rims. But, the directions from the Jack given by ford says to raise it on the side panels. There are 2 spots on each side, But is it strong enough to hold its own weight while I spray paint and sand the rims, ect. I'm guessing it would be up for 20 minutes at a time. And I asked a tech at kragen and he said he let his car stay up and the framed cracked. Does anyone have personal experience? or suggestions?

if you jack it at those points it is ok. use jack stands. do the back first then the front. make sure to set the ebrake and leave it in gear, block the wheels.
why are you spray painting your rims anyways? in 20 minutes? why does it need to be off the ground to do that?

Oh, I didn't mean it would only take 20 mins. I am guessing 20 minutes a wheel. When I place a Jack stand, do I place it where the jack was? I'm really not too sure with my mustang. I had a Kia before and the spot where I jacked was very big. With the mustang it's kinda small

if you are using the ford jack, its going to take you 20 minutes just to get the car high enough in the air to get the wheel off. haha. but yes, you should be able to look under the car and see the jack points. try to put it a little ways in, and not right on the edge, because the inside is what has the most support. i would definatley use jackstands as well, because those ford jacks are a little flimsy. you can put them under the rear axles and also under the front suspension.
