Default IRS upgrades

I have a superformance cobra roadster w/ a 527 cu. in. stroker motor. approx. 700 hp. It has an 8.8 rearend. The car is used for cruise around fun. I would like to know if there are any upgrades you can do to the rear end. I do not want to switch to straight axle. The car weighs approx 2500#. Cost is not a factor. Any and all expert opinions would be appreciated.

plenty of upgrades for that. is it a stock rearend like a mustang would have from the factory?

if so you could get some 31 spline axles, auburn posi, 3.55 gears...

or if you want the ultimate you could go for a ford nine inch rear end.

The thread is about an IRS, yet you have an 8.8 and dont want to switch to a straight axle? You are a very confufed person.

An 8.8 is a straight axle. The IRS is just what it says.

If he has a Cobra with an IRS that means independent rear suspension. If you can find stregthened rear A-arms for it some 31 spline axles, and I would suggest upgrading to a 4.10 rear end gear, if the 3.73 isn't enough.
