AT to 5-speed conversion, safe?
Hello everyone, i am new to the forum, i am looking for a mustang to puchase asap. However it seems that everytime i find the perfect one its an automatic. Im wondering if it would be safe to convert it to a 5speed, and if it would run a whole lot. I found a 2003 Black convertible, Stage 1 Roush GT, w/15,000 mi., for $13,000 from except its automatic. O yea and would anyone know if the dealer could perform the conversion.
Thank you in advance for your help

Hey man I know how you feel. I have both a 2004 mustang GT convertible and a 2001 mustang GT. I love 'em both but hey they're AOD (automatic w/ overdrive). Now I've neem looking around for a way to convert them to standard. Now the fact that me and you have late model stangs we havefloor shifters (not sure how common that was earlier) and that works to your advantage but then there's adding the clutch pedal and flashing the ECU (so im told). Altogether you'll prolly get up to $3000+. I'm not sure how well off you are but I'm 16 and other stuff comes first. You can make your AOD stang as fast (if not faster if they aren't the best at shifting) by putting 4.10 differential gears in. It'll be 10x cheaper.
actually here's an exact place to find it:

not sure how much labor would be for this.
