Default Need advice for my 99 v6

So I have a stock 99 v6 pony auto and I need engine mods to beat a stock 2005 v6 auto. No real point to ask why but I just wanted to know what I can put in it, apart from engine swaps, to beat this thing.

Thanks for the advise guys!

well, 3 options:
1- Tune, exhaust, gears, UDP, CAI, and damn good 60
2- some spray and a tune
3- FI

1 will be pretty even race, 2 and 3 will put you well ahead.

How hard are gears to install? also whats a 60? And whats a FI?

I wanted to get a Windstar Intake Kit, BBK Shorty Headers, CAI, and a dual cat

Well I pull on 05-10' V6's pretty hard, the last one had dual exhaust and was a 5spd, dunno what else he had.

Here is what I have done to my 96' 5spd, anything that isnt mentioned is stock with the car.

2000 3.8L swap
Shorty headers
94/95 GT BBK X-pipe (Modified to fit)
Borla mufflers (Dumped)
Ported heads with light porting on the intake side and port matching and huge D shaped exhaust.
Ported and port matched lower intake
Ported and port matched upper intake
Mac CAI
Custom VMP Tune via SCT Xcal II

And thats it, I pull hard on them and I still have the stock 2.73 one legger diff out back and a slipping clutch because the stock 96' unit wasnt meant for all that power and torque.

94-98 GT's arent a match either, 99+ GT's of course still get me.

A good course of action is to build your engine first, get a good 4.2L with a SSM powerpack or port yourself and grab one of SSM's cams and roller rocker kits too.

Or you can bypass all of that and do a M112 swap and have 300 reliable rear wheel horsepower for only a couple grand. TMA also has a great turbo kit and because it doesnt suck power to make power you will be around 350rwhp with a turbo kit, but its a little more expensive right now that your average shadetree M112 swap.

Good luck with your upgrades.

forget Shorties.

Do those 3 things and a J-mod and you should be right there with them.
