Here's a question about '05 Stangs & gas caps.. How come Ford put the filler at the side of the car yet stuck that "fake" filler cap in the rear center? I know the original Stang the '05 was modelled after had it's filler in the rear center, and Ford wanted to use that look. But, how come they didn't just make that the functional filler, than having it at the side? To me it looks like the '05 has TWO filler caps

 

It is just for looks. I heard that it is illegal to have a fuel door on the back of your car in newer vehicles. I think it has something to do with the fuel tank being behind the rear axle instead of in front of it, and crash test ratings for a rear end collision.
