My daughter has a 1995 Mustang that is going to need another transmission. The car has the 3.8 V-6 engine and is a simple daily driver, so I want to stick with the same AODE transmission. I need to know what other year/model Ford vehicles will have a transmission that would be a direct swap as a replacement.

I would think any AODE would work from 94-04 (minus 5.0 94-96) but you can check part numbers with the dealer, summitracing, or a salvage yard. Salvage yards will definably have the interchangeability books

 

Might be best to rebuild the unit you have, its cheaper, and overall not that difficult. I managed, and only have the training by trial and error in my garage at home

 

Is the bolt pattern for the bellhousing on a 5.0 the same as a 3.8? Is there any difference in the transmission behind these two engines? I may have found one, but it's in an Explorer.

Think I found one, but as you can tell I'm not up on the Ford interchange items. Will an AODE behind a 95 4.6 fit the 95 3.8? I found one in a 95 Merc.
