Default Annoying seat problem

Hi, I have a 96 GT and everytime I turn left the driver's seat tilts to the right -it comes right off the floor! It's annoying (and dangerous). Presumably some sort of bolt that holds the seat to the floor on the left-hand side has failed.

Is this an easy fix...? Any thoughts...?

thanks!

Richard

I would think so, I had a 1996 where when I accelerated the passenger seat (especially if occupied) would break lose from it's locking mechanism on the tilt adjustment and the passenger would end up lying straight backwards.

I decided not to mess with it since it was winter, so I brought it to a dealership, they tightened it up and it was fixed. I know it's not the same, but if it's just a bolt that needs replaced it shouldn't be a big deal especially if you can find it yourself. They charged me like 5 bucks I think, which was pretty good, it took about 15 minutes...probably only 5 of which were actually tightening the bolt.

Does it still slide smoothly on the track, or does it bind? It may be the track. I can't imagine both nuts coming off from under the floor board. Push the seat to the right, standing outside the car, and see where it seems to be coming loose.

thanks for the replies. I had a good look and it seems that the piece of metal that bolts to the floor (and also attaches to the bottom of the seat) as snapped in two places (near the front and back).

I need a new one. Any thoughts...? Are they easy to fit...? What are they called (so I can search to buy one)?

thanks!!!

Well maybe this page can help...this is a good site to find parts you need as it's basically a restoration site with everything you can imagine, plus aftermarket stuff too. Anyways, here ya go, at least it's a starting pointhttp://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...And-Components
I honestly don't know if they have the best prices though, and you might look around at junk yards even or Ebay.

Unfortunately, if it is in fact the seat track, that's a pretty hefty amount, but do realize that includes the motor for the power seat. I'm wondering though if you look elsewhere you can find a more specific part or something cheaper.

That's what I need...do you know if it's possible to get something cheaper, without all the motors? I don't really need a powered seat. :-)

I looked but can't find anything. :-(

thanks!

Here's a few Ebay finds that might help...first the original search.http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=mus...vers&_osacat=0

These could be possibilities...
Just tracks...$45http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MUSTA...Q5fAccessories
or...
The power drivers side full assembly $200http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-95...Q5fAccessories

Furthermore, I'm not completely sure, maybe someone will know, but I wonder if you just got the manual seat tracks if they would interchange or you could bolt up what you have existing if you do in fact have power seat.
