Default 86 GT 302

Hey all, I just picked up an 86 Mustang GT. The original 302 is out of the car and torn down. My question is I have an early 80's Ford conversion van with either a 302 or 351 in it, I'm not sure which would be in it, where would I look for casting #'s and what would I look for to determine if it's a 302, 351, etc. The engine in the van is carbureted, if I put that in for now I'd just use the carb probably until I can build up the 302 that was out of it if that will work. Unless the motor in the van is a 302 then I would think I could hook up original intake to it. Anyone done anything like this?

Its been years since I messed with a SBF... firing order on a non roller cam is an easy way to tell the difference from a 302 and a 351

A quick visual clue is the space from the timing chain cover to the head. On a 302 they are very close. On the 351, due to the taller block, there is about an inch gap between the timing cover and the head.
