Default Headers and Low End Torque

I just installed JBA shorties and high flows cats with Borla stingers! I have noticed a small difference in my low end torque. I use my car as a daily driver and don't want to change my gearing (3.55's) so I am thinking of the following. Steeda underdrive pulley's and a possible custom tune to boost bottom end without giving up too much in mid and upper ranges. I am all ears for suggestions! Thanks

The tune alone will make a sustantial difference everywhere (low, mid, and high). Especially since you now have a full exhaust. The pullies will give you a small bump in the upper revs.

I know you don't wanna change gearing but when I went from 3.55's to 4.10's it was a very nice improvement.

KB or a whipple.

your not going to get any more seat of the pants low end without changing gears or putting a positive displacement blower on it.

I haven't really noticed much of a fuel economy drop. I think at 70 I'm at about 2700 rpms. The 4.10s are perfect for a manual. It really should have come with those. But with the EPA I suspect thats why Ford goes no higher than 3.73s on a factory order. Your going to really like the 0-60 torque from the 4.10s I assure you.

I agree with your present ideas. A tune might be able to put more ignition timing in at low rpm. If you run it on the edge of detonation you will have more torque at partial throttle, especially down low.

The gears is just masking the problem. It doesn't really pick up the torque, it just bypasses the problem. Now you engine will be forced to rev higher at cruise speed and your mileage WILL go down.

Not a fan of deep gearing for the street. Most of us on street tires will not hook up enough to take advantage of the deep gears anyways.
