Ongoing starting problems, 01cobra
98000 miles.
Spark plugs, fuel pump, mass air flow sensor,
etc. all checked.
No check engine light.
Generating no codes.
I am very frustrated. I have had my car to nothing
short of 9 shops, including 3 different ford garages
for diagnostics...no help at all. 3 years and counting.
The problem is that it sometimes does not fire up.
Sometimes. When I turn the ignition it doesn't catch,
for lack of a better term. Recently, I had the mass
air flow sensor replaced at a ford garage. 2 weeks later,
it started acting up again. I can get the car going if I
get on the gas immediately and put it in to gear, however
if it slips below 1000 rpms, the car shuts down. Sometimes
it will eventually begin to idle fine after about 3 minutes
of continuous driving. Some times it will never idle and
I go along restarting everytime I can't keep on the gas.
Other days it fires right up. It's more problematic after
it's been through wet weather.
Thank you for reading and any potential insight.

I would suggest you get a code reader that has real time info. When you are having the problem, take a look at what is happening. Such as, what is the voltage the TPS is sending you? If you can't get a reader yourself, a well equipped shop will have something like the Snap-On Brick. The mechanic can ride with you and read the info the computer is reading.

I have the exact same problem, and the exact same lack of answers. I haven't noticed any pattern though, it's not after rainy driving for instance. It'll be fine for months, then I'll go through this for a few days, then it'll be good for months again. Very frustrating. Hopefully you'll have better luck resolving this issue and will share your insights with me...
