Default Help

Ok, so I'm putting myself out there, I really don't care if I look dumb, but I need some help. My boyfriend is a know it all when it comes to cars. And I wanted to show him that I could mod my car without his help. He had a TA with cutouts/headers really loud. I thought it was so cool that you could turn the exhaust on and off, like a sleeper.I want to do the same to my 06 Mustang GT. I just don't know how to go about it. So any help would be great, cost wise and so on. Thanks

Weld these in, or something similar. But I wouldn't suggest it, especially with a computer controlled car.

Unless you're making ALOT of power, you're not going to gain anything, except a headache and maybe a ticket or two. I'd do it if I had a big block Chevelle or something that I drove during the week, and took to the track on the weekends.

Good luck.

They also make units that open up manually. You have to crawl under the car and undo some wing nuts. Search Summit or Jegs.

you can use some electric cutouts (can be pretty pricey), and the flip of a switch opens and closes the opening. or you can use some fabricated bolt on/bolt off but those cannot be changed on the fly and can be kinda a PITA to cut the exhaust. OR the cheap route is to use the screw on lids from some 55 gallon oil drums and you can weld those to your mufflers and it essentially dumps the exhaust out the back of the muffler instead of the tailpipe (pretty loud but not as loud as dumped before the muffler). the how-to for that is in the 4.6 how to sticky i believe.

Price right now really isn't the issue, I want it to be as clean as possible. Electronic cutouts sound like something I may be interested. I'm doing as much research as I can, hopefully get it started by this summer. I want to soak as much knowledge in as possible. I appreciate the advice fellas

an exhaust shop should be able to weld them in for you for cheap. then all you have to do is run a few wires and your good to go.

1 wire from the cutout will go to the battery, one will go into the driver compartment to a switch. then you need a wire from the switch to the battery.
