Default How Do you remove roof side moulding?

Ok I cracked the cowl vent panel on my 2000 so i need one of those but do you have to remove the roof side mouldings to install the new one. I cracked the old one because the moulding covers the panel a little. Any help on installing the new panel would be helpful.

Thanks

Mine might be a bit different being a 95, but I removed the cowl vent to fix the windshield washer nozzle. Open the hood, and the gasket/seal at the back of the hood, on the cowl comes right off. There are what looks like 2 phillips screws under the gasket. They are plastic push clips. I popped them out, and pulled up on the cowl vent at the windshield glass. It wasnt hard to do. I didnt remove anything else except the windshield wiper arms. Once the cowl is unsnapped, it has plenty of flex to come out from under the roof moldings.

I changed it on my '03 GT. Open the hood and take all the fasteners on the firewall out. Take a wide putty knife and pry up on the panel. Put a rag or a towel under it, so you don't damage the windshield. Watch out also for the Washer Tubes too. When I put in the new one,(it was 165.00 at the dealer)I didn't loosen the side pillers. I think they're 5/16s not sure. You have to open the doors, and they sit behind the mirrors. I just bowed the panel, and pulled on the side pillers a little, to get the panel behind it, then put the fasteners back in. But, if I were to do it again, I would take those screws out. Hope this helps.......If you try to put in a used one, take out the piller screws, don't try bowing the panel. Only if it is new, because it's flexible. They harden over time.
