Default Emissions Testing

I hope this is in the right spot...I live around Nashville and they have emissions testing once a year to renew tags. While I have the car registered elsewhere for now, I may not be able to next year. Are there any exemptions for emissions testing? I can't seem to find much info on "off-road" vehicles. Do you think there is any tricks to get around it? I have no cats and the pipes are dumped off the mufflers.

Every state has different requirements and regulations. You may be able to find some shop that will pass you for an extra $50, but I wouldn't bother with the off-road registration trick. The state officials aren't that stupid (even though they may act like it) they will have different plates for off-road vehicles and a cop will pull you over real quick when they see you on the road. Either get it fixed, or register it out of state.

Even if you pass the sniffer, without cats you won't pass the visual. Just put street legal parts on your car and save the trouble.
