Upgrade or new car?
Hope this is the right section. I have a Mustang Gt 02 with 90,000 Miles on the stock engine, has Magnaflow exahust, cold air intake, new head lights and tail lights, and a under drive pully kit. I was thinking about adding a Kenne Bell twin screw supercharger, upgrading the pistons and rods, and a paint job. It's going to cost a good chunk of money, I am not sure if it would be better to do that or wait till the cars paid off, sell it and get the new 2011 Mustang Gt withs it's 5.0L. What do you guys think would be better long term?
I would personally wait on the new 5.0...it's like anything else that comes out that there is bound to be some quirks that they have to work out after people have owned them for a while. that's why i bought a 04...everything was worked out by then, then the new 05's came out.
i love the idea of the 2011's, but hate the boxy "retro" interior and not a huge fan of the backside of them so i wouldn't drop money on one. i love everything about my 04 interior, simple, clean, and relatively comfy(but want cobra or mach 1 seats)
depends on if you want another car payment...i would frechen the motor up and build it, their the SC on it with supporting mods and have a blast with it and give the 2011's a good rin for their money with the KB.
think of it this way...add up the cost of the paint, SC (with supporting mods), built motor and labor....ANYTHING that would go into this route, then compare it to the what $30,000 (?) price tag of the 2011's.
you could have a real fun car for $7k-$15k (half of a 2011) not to mention it will be "like new" with a rebuilt fresh motor. JMHO
