alright guys....after i got in my lil accident i have this really loud rattling noise...which shakes the whole car.... it comes from like right under the center console...my father looked under the car.. sed nuthing is bent....but a few people been telling me to look at transmission mounts...my dad dint do that, but im about to today... so how do u tell if a tranny mount is broken or whatever...the shaking gets worse every day and i wanan know if u guys think this is sumthing thats gunna mess my car up or not

 

I doubt its the tranny mount.....Sound to me like the driveshaft.The tranny mount is right under the back of the tranny and bolts to the crossmember but I doubt thats it how could that make it shake??All that will do is let the tranny lift up if its broken sometimes it hits the floor if its completely broken,but chances are its the driveshaft.What did you do to the car in the accident??

 

hit a 2 inch in diameter tree...then like i stopped on the upside of a ditch.. so when i drove out the underbody of my car hadda hit the ground a feww times...it was doing this and i asked my dad if the drive shaft bolts could be lose... so when he took it in he sed they were and tightened them....then it dint do it as bad, but yesterday it got worse... but how could the bolts losen themselves, and if thats not it then what else would it be regarding the driveshaft???

 

Ya dude you bent the shaft ..No doubt!If you pull it out of gear while your driving it still shakes huh??Id bet my life the shaft is bent

 

nope... doesnt shake when i pull it outta gear.. only shakes when i drive fast... or when i go over a bump and am on the gas

 

Really.....HUh, Thats weird..The shaft spins no matter if its in gear or not so its not that then...Now I'm confused if its not the shaft there isnt much else it could be, it doesnt make any sence if it doesnt shake when you pull it out of gear...The mount wouldnt have anything to do with it...It has to be the shaft...There is nothing else it could be IMO..Cant be the rear end cause that would get hurt by bottoming out and the tranny wouldnt either.Try putting it on jack stands and put it in gear and see if the shaft wobbles when you move??Its gotta be that

And for the ?s on the bent fog light I'm sure you can just bend the bracket back no problem

 

sweet thanks, but while im getting my car repaired... can i borrow yours LOL thanks alot.. i think ima pull the shaft out and lay it on the ground, if its bent it shouldnt lay flat on the ground, and thne i guess ill go from there. How much does a drive shaft cost?

 

200 hundred for a new one...But it will not lay flat cause of the yoke on the end.Take it out and bring it to someone and have then throw it on a balancer it could be you just knocked the weight of it and be an easy fix.

ok... went to the shop.. and definately confirmed that the drive shaft is hitting the frame... we also noticed the drive shaft doesnt run down the dead center ne more.. its like slightly to the left. So...what do i do now? whats causin the shaft to hit the frame.... and how do i fix it?
