4:10's on a 04 mach1 5spd...?
i would really like to get these 4:10's, could you guys please tell me what they will do..?how much faster my car would be? will it be a huge difference? are they at all harmful, or in any way will they have the possibility to harm my car? any people who have experienced with 4:10's on their late model stang please share...thanks...

Although i cant exactly tell you 'how' much faster your car will be, it will make a pretty nice difference in every gear, especially the first three

I can't imagine they will directly harm your car, there is no reason to assume they would do so. Indirectly is a completely different story though... (as in.. you will want to be driving the car HARD ALL the time now, so, yea, you'll probaly be a bit rougher,
)good luck,
Hypothetically speaking, your RPM in 5th at 70 mph right now is about 2500, with 4:10 it will be around 3500, hypothetically. Harm comes from increased engine wear and tear due to increased rpm required to achieve the same speed you used to and love. MPG also takes a dump. Top speed goes down too, around 130 mph with 4:10. All this things are good for the track, for daily driving they aren't. I'm looking at 3.73 at the moment.

RPM is not even close to 3500 at 70 mph in fifth gear with 4.10s in a Mach 1. Here in the real world, rpm do not even reach 3000 until 90 mph in fifth, mileage has not taken a dump, and they are perfect for a daily driver, which mine is.

To find out approximatly what your RPM with different gears will be you to take your current RPM in 5 th at a givin speed (ex 2500) and divide that by your gear ratio (3.55) now multiply the result by the new gear (4.10) So we have
2500/3.55 x 4.10 = 2887.32
Math class is over now.
2500/3.55 x 4.10 = 2887.32

Um, once again, it's 3K at 90 in fifth gear, and mileage has not taken a **** on the highway. I have 4.10s in my 5 spd Mach 1, I drive it at 3000 rpm on the highway, and it's at 90 mph in fifth gear. Fact, personal experience....class dismissed.
yea, yea, i understand the math, but regarldless, you still have the same final drive ratio, so how can it be so much different?
