Default car crash, wheel bent

I put this on General Tech because it can probably be applied to all the Mustangs.

I have a 2004 Mach1... it was wet ouside, and i put traction control off because i was at a large empty avenue making some quick launches... as i was heading back home, i make a sharp turn and put some gas, not thinking....

i know it was a terrible mistake, feel free to flame me on it, im inexperienced....

anyways, i lost complete control of the car, it spun, and the rear wheel slammed into the curb... i put it on first gear, gas it, nothing... i get out of the car to see the wheel has been completly bent from under....

the auto shop said $6000....

any reason why so expensive? what do you think is the specific of what happened?

thank you

I had a similar incident. the cost isnt from the wheel, its from replacing the axle shaft straightening the axle tube and replaceing the caliper mount. At least thats what got bent when I tagged a curb.

just go to a junk yard pull and axle and drop it in, all you really need to do is hook up the upper/lower control arms, driveshaft, and brake lines, bleed brakes and e brake.... pretty much all it is and you should be able to get one for 300$

You FUGGIN nOOb!! Cocky guys with careless attitues like yours is the REASON why insurance is sky high on performance cars for younger drivers. SLOW IT DOWN till you gain some experience!! Or better still, buy a 4 or 6 banger till you actually have experience!

Happy now?

It happens with inexperience. If you have no experience doing your own repairs, I would say bit the bullet and call insurance.
