Default General Engine Question

Hey Guys,
So im thinking about doing an engine build as way to learn about them better and have something that has lot of power. Now with being said this question isn't one of best so im sorry if this sounds really dumb but... I cant seem to find a (or what seems to me) a clear definition of what the difference between a long block and short block is. Please help me out here.

THanks

Short block is the block with the general internals, crank, rods pistons etc, but has no heads or intake, and sometimes no cam. The long block is a shortblock with heads and an intake etc.

Not every engine is OHC silly one. Pushrod engines have the camshaft in the block.

I've seen long blocks with out the intake as well, just a short block with heads on it.
