Default why no dex cool or extended life???

well after replacing my intake manifold i filled it up with the best coolant the auto parts store had. It was extended life dex cool and it said it was safe for all manufactureres. This was about a month ago. I happened to be looking through the manual and it says NOT to use dex cool or extended life. How come?? Is it really bad that i have dex cool in it? SHould i take it out asap???

also, im very much into motocross racing and we use Water Wetter and Engine Ice in our cooling systems. I was about to put some Water Wetter into the stang but the manual also says not to add any cooling additives. SO whats the real deal. Is Ford just saying that or should i take the manual seriously.

BTW, if i should reflush my coolant, what is the best coolant to buy. thanks

Well my friend was using dexcool in a motor and he supposedly said it ate away gaskets in the motor over time. I dont know how true this is but thats one thing i guess you should no.

When you mix the red (extended) with regular (green) it caused things to gum up and clog everything in your entire cooling system. If the extended life coolant ate gaskets and whatnot , it wouldn't be used in almost all new cars.................it just causes bad affects when mixed. They make a new (orange) extended that works with either green or red with no ill effects. I believe it is Prestone?

100% correct. Water Wetter is fine in your car

yeah, prestone works with everything. if it eats your gaskets, sue prestone for a GT 500.

alright, ima go to the auto parts store and pick up some prestone and some water wetter.

Since theres a possibility that i mixed a little green with the red, should i buy a bottle of "flush" too?

And your sure water wetter is fine???

thanks for all this help.

so far, ive had this red stuff in for about a month. should i be worried?

Just do a real good flush first to make sure. Its more time than money to do, so I would to be safe.
