Ok, I need an education on the newest headlights that are available. I would like to replace my headlights but not sure which ones to get. I hear a lot about smoked, clear, projectors, halogen, etc. What's the difference. I am more of a visual person and would like to see pics before putting out the money for anything. Is there a website to see variations of lights on a car?

I don't want headlights that give a blue hue. I don't like being hit with them in the face so I wouldn't want to do that to anybody else. Does that limit my choices?

I recommend HID (high intensity discharge) bulbs. The conversion kits are relatively expensive at around $300. The type of headlight assembly used with them, whether smoked or clear, matters very little. If you do not like those with a blue tint get 6000K bulbs. Others will no doubt follow me here and recommend Sylvania Silverstars, which are brighter than the stock halogen bulbs, but less intense than HIDs.

i agree with the hid's but i dont agree with the 6000k.. if you dont want blue you will have to go with 4300k. the cheapest way to go like cornholio said is the sylvania silverstars, they are brighter than stock. they sell them at walmart

 

He is correct, go for 6000K or less for whiter HIDs. Blue ones are in the 8000K range.

Are HID's the same wattage as stock? I am concerned about melting.

I'm in Philly, and have been told that HID's are illegal in Jersey ([sm=badbadbad.gif]where I do spend a decent amount of drive time) Has anyone ever been pulled over for HID's? Ticketed?

 

After start-up they are actually lower wattage than stock. A good HID kit will draw power directly from the battery via a relay, because the brief initial draw to power the ballasts (not the bulbs) is up to 50 watts. The bulbs will not melt the housings. They are illegal in the United States when retrofitted onto a vehicle intended for highway use, however I have not been pulled over by a police officer because of them since installing them over a year and a half ago. It's all in the adjustment, aim them high like a ricer with imitation HID bulbs and you might get pulled (and deserve to).
