Default Why the difference

I came across a K&N advertisement for a CAI and the HP numbers are surprising to say the least. As an example

2010 Mustang V6 had an increase of approximately 7HP
2009 Shelby GT500 had an increase of approximately 57HP

Why such a big difference???????

Advertised numbers are worthless. V8 gets more HP per mod than a v6. Supercharged car gets more HP per mod than na.

yes, what ^^^ said. you will rarely see the actual gains advertised by the manufacturer. the numbers they claim usually require a tune and are under perfect conditions. but to answer your question about why the insane difference, supercharged cars benefit more from the extra airflow than just a stock v6.

57 is far fetched on a S/C with no other mods other than a non tuneable intake. Read the fine print, probably has headers and a smaller diameter pulley (Higher boost).

yep, a tune is a must. No tune, and you might have well just left the stock intake on. Because whatever little power increase you do get, you simply cannot feel it, it is too damn small of a gain.

A bigger engine makes more HP. For an example if you improve/mod your engine with a 10% power gain....a 100hp engine will now make 110 hp and a 50hp engine will now make 55hp. Hope that helps

Sounds crazy, but the more you open up the air side the bigger numbers that blown 5.4 can put out. A tuner is required, but I don't have a lot of horsepower upgrades, mostly on the air intake side and the car is putting down good numbers. Dynoed at Shelby America during September (HOT).
