Should I get paint Job
I have about 18,000 saved up and i want to buy a mustang convertible as my first car. Of course it will be used but I want a red one but all they have is black except one which is red and cheaper but has 90,000 miles on it already vs. 55,000 miles. Should I buy the more expensive one and save up for a paint job or get the one with more mileage. I have a job so it wont take forever to save up and how much does a decent paint job cost?
Personally I would buy whatever has the color you want and save the money for mods (cosmetic or performance) and such. A red car is actually higher insurance as well. Depending on the year of the Stang and environment, stock paint holds up very well (I think it is the early 90s that has notable paint defects over time). Putting another color on it because you like it and cutting a few corners in cost MAY leave you with a much shorter living paint job.

If you like the red, get the red. When you do need to repaint it, (and you keep if you keep it factory color red) you will save money on the underhood, trunk and door jamb areas as they are already red.
Mileage is not what it used to be. I see beautiful cars with over 150,000 miles all the time. Just know that you may need to do some extra servicing to it.
Red will not increase your insurance rates....that is a myth. (I am in the business)

Red is a myth...trust me. I am an agent with a major company and we never have to input the color anywhere on the policy. Red may get you more tickets with the police...but even that is based on your driving habits. I also have taken many law enforcement courses while volunteering for the local pd and the cops even say red doesn't make a difference.
By the car in the color you want. It is too difficult IMO to change colors and not miss an area that needs to be painted like behind the weather seals, jambs, behind the inner wheel well liners etc. IMO it is worth the extra coin up front unless you are taking it ALL apart to repaint.
I had an '86 Mustang in high school and did a color change from blue to black. (Needed paint anyway.) I really WOULD NOT recommend a color change, unless it's on a 'budget beater', like mine was, or you're going to pay mega dollars to do a frame off, an do it properly.

....I'd keep looking!
