Engine Block Casting Number
#2
Hey dude.. this is lewis... check you casting numbers again. I think you may have a C5AE-6015-E (not a D)... The C5AE will come back to your 289 HIPO.. Specs are available with a quick google search. I also have PDF somewhere with the ford casting codes and specs, but need to find it.. Have you found your motorcraft - autolite carb yet? I would fork over the $500 bucks for a pony carb... It was the best thing I ever did for the mustang...

Lewis, the Hi Po block and the regular block are the same block, the difference is if they are still there on your Hi Po block are the main bearing caps. The Hi Po block had larger main bearing caps to handle more horse power. Some times the serial number of the car it was from was stamped on the Hi Po block but not always. The casting numbers were different so you knew which ones had the larger main bearing caps.
