no but a 1000 lbs of lead weighs more then 1000 lbs of feathers.

They do blend the two to make 89 at gas stations but I don't think it is a 50/50 mix.

Yes it does make 89 octane and the lead weights do NOT weigh more than the feathers.

actually the way you said it, led weights do weigh more then feathers, but 1000 lbs of lead does not weigh more then 1000 lbs of feathers.

The feathers can weigh more, depending on how much you have.

It's not going to be a 50/50 mix. And 1000lbs of lead = 1000lbs of feathers. There will be more feathers then lead when you look at a 1-1 comparison. but weight is weight.

Since the octane ratings are averages then mixing 87 and 91 in a 50/50 mix will give you the average or so close to it the difference doesn't matter.
87 + 91 = 178 / 2 = 89
