im just getting into under the hood of cars and i was wondering what the lb means. example 24lb injectors. what does the 24 pounds mean?

It's lbs/hr. It means a 24 lb/hr injector will pump 24 pounds of fuel every hour. Why it's lb instead of gal I have no clue. But this number is used to determine the need of the engine in terms of fuel.
